I've been working on some large, slow projects lately, which might explain my recent dry-spell of art (I'm not one for work-in-progress pics).
But other than that, I've realized I've been struggling to find the drive and time to give my art its due. It's starting to make me long for my younger self... not because I was fitter, more youthful and had a full set of hair (cause, really... what I am now is pretty much what I was back then) but because I distinctly remember drawing a LOT more in my youth... like... several times more.
Sometimes I wonder what really did change...
But enough about that, on to some news!
First off, congratulations to
It came completely by surprise because I thought it was still about 200+ pageviews away. Guess I was wrong...
The pageview milestone for the next free omission is 10 000 pageviews.
Other than that, the second LegionInk art meetup I went to was very fun. Now that the awkwardness wasn't so present anymore (for me at least), we were just enjoying ourselves something silly.
These art meet-ups are great, and the knowledge that gets passed around is very cool for beginners and pro's alike.
I urge any other South African artists out there to head over to their dA group [[link] or their website [[link] and join/register to stay up to date with any meet-up events in your area.
It's a great way to meet some awesome artists who are just generally fun to hang around with.
Also, in other news, I've located my very first art theft a short while ago, and I don't know if I'm more angry or flattered. Recently I've discovered Google's (very good) reverse image search function, and decided to give all my dA pieces a look just in case.
What I found was that one of my dA pieces was stolen... twice... and it was an artwork I really didn't think anybody would want to steal.
The artwork in question is my Fallout "War Never Changes" design [[link]
First off, it was stolen by a fellow dA member claiming it as his own. A quick report had the dA crew inspect the evidence and remove it from his gallery in about 30 minutes. Great work, guys and thanks for the quick response!
The second theft was from a Mexican t-shirt company selling the design without my permission (with not only my tag removed, but the Bethesda copyright I placed on there as well). After a long struggle finding a means to 'contacto' them on their Spanish-only site, I sent them an email explaining the situation. I've yet to receive a response and I bet I never will, but oh well, not really anything I can do about that I guess... :/
So yeah, if you haven't done so, plop your art into Google's reverse image search and see if your hard work isn't exploited somewhere on the net.
And I guess that's all for now, see you guys around!
